So I went to see Scorpions last Wednesday, and they were awesome. They played all their greatest hits, and 3 songs from the new album (which is great by the way). I had seen them back in 2005, and I can say this show was 10x better, they had numerous guests and they played electroacoustic versions for their calm songs (Wind of Change, Send me an Angel).

They also covered Kansas and played Dust in the Wind (which was well received by the audience), near the end, Klaus announced another guest, and invited Alex from Mexican band, Mana. He was going to play the drums in rock you like a hurricane, but Scorpions drummer James Kottak took over in the last moment. However they played No one like you afterwards, and Alex played the drums.

A new competitor has joined the Browser wars: Google’s Chrome browser was released today. It’s based on webkit and mozilla, and the main goal was to provide a stable browser with a simple user interface.

I already downloaded & tested it for a while, it is indeed fast and it hasn’t crashed so far. The User Interface is clean and simple, and it even imported all my firefox stored passwords and bookmarks. When you open a new tab, it shows thumbnails for recent bookmarks or the sites you visit the most, it is a nice touch but they kinda stole the idea from opera

It also includes a private browsing mode which google calls “Incognito”. And it features the “Omnibox” which is the url bar all browsers have, but it also does google search (or other search engine searches which can be customized). I didnt like this feature though, I prefer my url bar to be one, and my search bar to be another one.

In general, I think it’s quite a good browser, but I still prefer my good old firefox, mainly because of the extensions.

Well I haven’t posted anything in a while, mainly because the exams period of college started and I’m busy finishing proyects or studying for exams. So I will resume posting new stuff next week.

It’s been over a week from my last post, mainly because school has been keeping me busy, so here is this hopefully interesting post to make up for it.

Im sure most people has seen or played Guitar Hero, a great game indeed and its fun to play especially with friends; but some people have taken the gameplay to whole new level.

First we have a 16 year old boy named Blake Peebles, who decided to drop out of school to play GH. I’m sure this wont seem right for most of us, but apparently his parents said he complained alot of school and they agreed to let him leave it. Not only leaving school to play videogames is one of the most stupid ideas ever, but he isn’t even one of the best GH players around, and even if he were, how he expects to make a living out of GH playing is something I can’t quite understand.

But it’s ok, let the 16 year guy be, I mean he will soon realize there is no future in his new life, and he will most likely return to school or at least he will do some other thing. However the next guy I will talk about definitely takes the first spot at being a complete idiot.

Hans Gruber, a 38 year old man was participating in a Guitar Hero 2 contest, back in February 8th 2008 and he lost by a small margin against a 17 year old guy. Gruber got so angry that he started destroying anything and everything in his way, he even smashed his guitar against the 17 year old boy’s head. He was then controlled by the security guards. Gruber admited he had taken steroids to improve his GH performance. Yeah you heard right, steroids on a videogame contest. And here I thought that only bodybuilders and cheap athletes took those to become “better” at what they do. Theres is something wrong with society today…

Since we are all going to die this week when the Large Hadron Collider goes live in 3 days, 1 hour from this post. Well I decided to post this cool video that illustrates all the upsides of the project. Some scientists say some mini black holes could form inside it, and if they don’t vanish faster than they’re generated it could turn into a big one :O it’s pretty unlikely to happen though, but still it’s nice to know that we are about to die xD

Quick post for today, well my friend PerroHunter has a blog too, so feel free to check it out PerroHunter.com just be advised that his layout is too hard on the eyes, and when I say that I really mean it. Anyways atleast he makes up for the eye strain with a nice ajaxed blog software he made.

Well I installed this new theme which looks cleaner and nicer, I spent a whole hour customizing the template files, moving stuff from here to there. (Since this theme has a pro version which offers a control panel, but I know how to customize it so I just went with the free one ).

Anyways I also remembered how much I enjoy creating fire with photoshop, I found this cool image of a Starcraft Firebat and added some fire to it. As you can see it on the little screen at the top of the page.

First of all sorry for not posting anything for around a week, but I went on a trip and I didnt have the time. Anyways Im sure we all remember that amazingly ugly purple dinosaur named Barney, it seems everyone dislikes him because not even my 3 year old cousins enjoy watching it. Heck, in Mexico we even had this modifications to the barney intro song which were classical during elementary school’s field trips, one of them had to do with barney being a dinosaur eating people and teaching kids “fun things” such as breaking windows and stuff like that.

Well recently I found this joke which is the scientific proof that barney is indeed evil.

The long awaited winPwn 2.0 was finally released! I actually had to use a mirror to download it because of the huge load their sever was having yesterday. Now for those of you who have no idea what winpwn is; it’s the windows version of the pwntool which runs on Mac OS X, it’s used to create custom firmwares for iphone or ipod touch, and it also supports unlocking and jailbreaking. Version 2.0 supports firmware 2.0

I was intending to post this yesterday, but the fact that I had several problems with my iphone made me focus on fixing it. I got it working with firmware 2.0 now, so here is what happened.

I created my custom firmware with winpwn and then I proceeded to “pwn Itunes” (this makes it able to restore using custom firmwares), after everything was ready I placed my iphone in DFU mode to restore, unfortunately itunes kept saying it couldn’t restore because of an “unknown error (1601) or (1604)”. I tried restoring using my laptop and I got the same results. I managed to get it out of DFU mode by doing a hard reset (holding power & home for 10 seconds) so the iphone just like before attempting to do anything.

Long story short, for some reason the itunes pwner that winpwn uses doesnt work sometimes (it seems to be completely random, since it has worked for alot of people, but it has failed for alot too). The solution is to use xpwn to pwn itunes. You can get it here: http://wikee.iphwn.org/news:xpwn_release unzip it and run

itunespwn.exe “Custom-nameofyour2.0firmware.ipsw” (Run this on a command prompt), and make sure that your Custom ipsw is on the same folder where you extracted xpwn. Once that’s done just put the iphone in DFU and restore, it should work.

So far I’ve liked the 2.0 firmware, there are several good free apps in the appstore. I found one that isn’t as popular but I found it nice and handy to have for people running blogs with WordPress. Its the WordPress app. I’ve taken some screenshots:

Its nice for a quick edit but I doubt someone would like to write a full post in their iphone/ipod touch, especially since it doesnt have wysiwyg editor at the moment, you have to use HTML which can be challenge for those who haven’t used it before. But it’s still useful for edits, mainly because you dont have to load the full WordPress admin using mobile safari which would take way longer.
